For nearly 4 decades, our family has been building homes in the Kettle Moraine and Lake Country area. In 1980, John and Karen Smart founded Smart Builder’s LLC, and in 2015, they complimented their business with the addition of JKS Homes, LLC, run by their daughter, Sarah.

As lifelong residents and business owners in the area, John and Karen, along with their children, have extensive knowledge of the building and renovation process. Having built 11 custom homes for themselves, in addition to the hundreds built for clients, they understand the business from all angles. They realize it’s stressful, and even the most well planned project can take unexpected turns. Armed with their experiences, they are well equipped to manage the process, making it as smooth as possible for each and every client.
